Reference Photos
In order to create the best drawing of your pet, I need a good quality photograph. The more detail in the photo, and higher the resolution, the better your portrait will be. When you email your photo(s) please select the largest file size option. It is especially important that I can distinguish the color of your pet's eyes and be able to see the direction of the fur.
The photo must be sharp and in focus. I'm not able to work from blurry photos.
A good tip is to take your pet's photo facing the camera, in natural day light, preferably outdoors. Bright overcast day are often the best. Avoid direct sunlight as this can wash out details and colors. I also advise against using a flash, as that will help prevent glowing eye effects. Often you get better shots by getting down to eye level with your pet. I only need the head and shoulders to work from. Some people find it helpful to have a friend get your pets attention with a favorite toy or treat.
A photo from a high quality phone camera is usually acceptable, but in general it is better to use an actual camera. You are more likely to obtain bright, sharp pictures.
Try to capture as many good photos as you can and choose three or four that you love. Remember that the better the photo, the better the drawing I will be able to create for you.
