Thanks for checking out my site! It started with Pongo - my beagle pictured above. We'd been through a long, stressful patch, and I hadn't done any Art for years, I just hadn't had the time. When we moved to Salt Lake my wife signed us both up for a colored pencil class. It was a good class, I learned a lot, but the expression, the "Art" part just wasn't clicking for me. One night, fairly frustrated, I decided to work up a photo I had of my little buddy. His big, loving eyes, the blue shadow on the carpet. I look at this picture now and it's not perfect, as a drawing I see the things I'd fix, but I won't, because this marks where the journey started again, this is where I reconnected. There truly is peace in the eyes of a dog who loves you.

Varlo Davenport is - hmm - yes, he is. He's done a lot of things, taught university, acted, directed, dug ditches, sold cars, built houses, and raised a family. He tries to be a good husband. He teaches high school, goes on walks, photographs flowers with his phone, writes bad poetry and never misses the opportunity to share a "Dad" joke - and loves to sit quietly with his dog and watch the rain fall, and the flowers grow, and the people walk by.
